Opening in Tokyo in 1996, the Ippodo Gallery has three exhibition venues in Japan where it has established a reputation for itself as the leading gallery specializing in contemporary art crafts.
In 2008 Ippodo Gallery opened its first U.S. branch in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York, where it holds diverse exhibitions and events, presenting the work of contemporary Japanese craft artists in an effort to introduce current Japanese culture to the world.
Since 2013, we have relocated to the Upper East Side and have consolidated a new business structure. With an unwavering commitment to bringing the highest quality works directly from their Japanese sources, we plan to showcase these on a global-scale.

At Ippodo Gallery we collect beautiful works, in ceramics, urushi lacquer, bamboo, textiles (dyed and embroidered), cabinetmaking, paper, metal, glass, stone (sculpture) etc., embodying the highest degree of craftsmanship, in order to promote and champion Japanese art crafts.
